News from the Bluffton Horse World

all is here and the summer show season is coming to an end. Fall finals are in full swing and our area equestrians are well represented on the show circuit.

Josh Dolan and his horse “Chino” from Rose Dhu Creek Equestrian Center head off to South Florida at the end of the month to compete in the 123rd National Horse Show. America’s oldest horse show, founded in 1883 at the original Madison Square Garden, the National is firmly established as a major fixture on the national and international sports and social event calendars and is one of America’s most prestigious outdoor shows. “Chino” is currently among the top Five Year Old Jumpers and is on tract to become Five Year Old Jumper “Horse of the Year.”

Jordan Gaston and “Ideal” from Moss Creek are currently ranked 10 in USEF Zone 4 Pony Hunter Division. Fellow barn mate Amanda Lolik had a fine showing with “Woodrow Ringmaster” winning Reserve Champion Child/Adult Jumpers in Aiken, SC. Let’s not forget Nicky Jeoffroy and “Medoc” with a Reserve Champion in the PSJ Pony Hunter. Congratulations to Oliver B. on the purchase of “Top Secret” and let us welcome new equestrians Marguerite S., Maggie Rose, Crysta and Marguerite W.

Star Ridge Stables’, Laura McNair qualified for the prestigious South Carolina’s Governors Cup. Megan Doughty, Caroline Roberson, Mckenny Russell and Nicole Roos all look forward to New Year showing on the “A” circuit. Congratulations to those who have purchased new horses recently; Laura McNair & “Sparky”, Jennifer Hauck & “Lizzy”, and Tara Powers & “Hagen”. A warm welcome goes out to rising stars Britnee, Savannah, Margaret and Christine.

Eddie and Kate Maple of Rose Hill Equestrian Center are busy these days getting ready to host a three day Dressage clinic with German Reitmaster Siegfried Winkler on November 3-5, 2006. Mr. Winkler studied for five years under Egon von Neindorff and has trained and shown multiple horses to Grand Prix. All proceeds from the clinic will be donated to Heroes on Horseback. Ride times are still available; please call Michelle Niles at 368-2670.

We also send a big congratulations and best wishes to the Maple’s niece, Amy, on her recent marriage to Josh Grossman.

Rose Dhu Creek Equestrian Center, Legacy Construction and Seminole Feed are hosting a Fall Fun Show on Saturday November 4, 2006. Classes begin at 8:30 am. The show will offer classes ranging from lead line to Regular Working Hunters. The Bluffton and Okatie Rotary Clubs are hosting “The Sport of Kings – Polo for Charity” event on Sunday November 12th at Rose Hill Plantation. A great time for the whole family, gates open at 12 noon for tailgating with the match beginning at 2:00 pm. Proceeds benefit local charities.

Horse lovers, we all know the thing we love, almost as much as our horses, is our tack shop. Lucy Hunter of “The Tack Shop” tells us she is expanding! If you are looking for something special or if you have a saddle, you are not using, let her know. Remember Lucy and Penny are keeping holiday wish lists on hand, so make sure you register with them. Don’t forget to check the board in the shop for information on upcoming events.

If you have news about local equestrians or equestrian related events that you would like to share in “Pony Tales”, please email sarah@rosedhucreek.com.
