A Mother’s Lament
Written By Margaret Heyward
hen I was in my younger days
I weighed a few pounds less
I didn’t hold my stomach in
To wear a belted dress
But now that I am older
I have set my body free
With the comfort of spandex
Where my waistline use to be
The inventor of high heels
I never have forgiven
I now wear size nine
When once I was a seven
Now about those panty hose
They are sized by weight I see
So why when I put them on
The crotch is at my knee
I have to wear these glasses
Since the print is so much smaller
And not to long ago
I am sure that I was taller
Tho my hair has turned to silver
And my skin does not fit
I’m the same on the inside
It’s the outside that’s changed a bit![]()
